Last week, a new book banning bill in Florida (Florida House Bill 1539) that would require schools to remove challenged books immediately from shelves, even without a review process, was opposed by a wide group of literary and eduction advocates including American Booksellers for Free Expression, Authors Against Book Bans, the Authors Guild, the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, EveryLibrary, the Florida Freedom to Read Project, PEN America, and We Need Diverse Books.
